Thank you for your interest in The Psychological Assessment Center. With over 38 years of clinical experience, Dr. Smith provides a broad array of psychological assessment services for children, adolescents, college students, and adults. Services are tailored to meet the specific needs of each client by determining their unique cognitive and psychological strengths and weaknesses. Dr. Smith’s goal for assessment is for it to be an integral part of understanding the client’s cognitive and psychological functioning to determine the most beneficial psychological, medical, and educational interventions. Through diagnostic evaluation and individualized recommendations, she strives to help clients achieve success in their everyday lives.
At the beginning of the assessment process, Dr. Smith meets with the client to obtain comprehensive background information in order to determine the best approach to the evaluation. Dr. Smith does not utilize psychometricians or psychological technicians which allows for a more personal service. In addition, this assures the client that a clinician with extensive experience is involved in all phases of the evaluation: testing, interpretation, diagnosis, recommendations, and advocacy.
Following the completion of an assessment, if indicated, Dr. Smith provides short-term Individual, Marital, and Family Therapy. She employs an eclectic approach to therapy, utilizing research-based treatment plans to address the individual needs of each client.
Finally, Dr. Smith conducts Psychoeducational groups/workshops. Clinical topics vary throughout the year and include topics such as stress management, anger management, communication skills development, sleep hygiene, mindfulness, and parenting classes.
